Five Crows and a Single Seagull

Back to story telling, I was struck with the remembrance of this one. I have seen my witnessed story of the crows harassing the eagle as it flies and how the eagle remains flying despite the minor annoyance of the crows and their intent to attack. I have for a long while looked to the natural world for the guidance and cues to support my growth and best living alongside with following my heart at all times.

So today I bring you the tale of the Sassy Seagull. It was a morning like many others yet the sunrise had blessed and was blessing the morning with a glorious show of color, majesty and might in ever graceful and inspirational manners.

It was on this morning that I found myself seated in the parking lot grooving to some music that happened to move my soul for a moment while waiting for my son to emerge from the shop he had chosen for his lunch that day. A treat he deeply enjoys, the experience of his ordering and paying for it making him feel more grown up then I would wish for him yet. I do treasure witnessing how it makes him feel so manly and grown for a moment whilst standing in line, surrounded by actual men all holding the purpose of setting their lunch plans for the day.

Back to the Sassy Seagull however. As I sat there I noticed a movement from the side of my vision and I am always curious towards the actions of birds as I find them fascinating in flight and in so many ways. So my attention was garnered. I gazed upon a single seagull who appeared to be eating something from the parking lot. I couldn’t see this treasure so it must have been some seeds as there was no bread crust or larger chunks visible. But whatever it was must have tasted like ambrosia because this Sassy Seagulls joy was witnessed in quick form and a few moments later there were crows on the scene.

At first a larger single crow and then four more smaller crows showed up. They circled the Seagull and they played a game of distraction and diversion whilst the other crows went about sneaking a bite of the seeds the Seagull had earlier been enjoying. Crows are gracefully intelligent in their darkness. I find they are deservingly bold in their approach of embracing their nature wholly.

People often scorn or look poorly upon crows. Partly because they are black. Partly because they carry many tales of less then admirable traits given them from the fearful perspective of others. Also partly because they make no effort for the most part to soften the shrill tone of their calling to suit the desire of anyone or anything unless it so suit them and if you are ever lucky enough to hear the softer gurgle type chuckle of a crow you will see closer to the beauty and intelligence they do indeed hold.

This Sassy Seagull was no sucker and knew what the game afoot was and I myself chuckled inside as I watched this seagull tuck down and take on the stance of a winged quarterback all Sass and Get the Fuck Outta Here type vibe. Now that is something truly funny to witness. A seagull trying to turn all hardcore as if they hold the rights to the majesty of an eagle or the swift flight and laser vision of a hawk. Thusly the lesson was born.

We each carry within us the ability to adapt to the essence of that which we are not in ways that protect us and allow our existence while at the same time allowing us to set forth a decision of how we are received by those around us. We can maintain the pure intention of our cores while having some fun layering whatever we so choose to utilize for our best growth and loving impact upon this world. Like getting dressed in the morning we can choose to wear our best outfits or we can choose to be more casual. Each choice we make influences the crows around us and their efforts to slip around us in ways of distraction and diversion. We can respect them for their own beautiful purpose and still not lose sight of the truth of our own.

Oh and a car pulled up blocking my view for the final few minutes of my waiting but when I backed out of my spot both my son and myself saw that Sassy Seagull peek around the back of that car that had blocked my sightline and he gave us the look of “Hey did you just see that?” “Yep I did that” it was so prominent in that birds body language that even my son commented on the sassy look he had. The crows were all gone.

I love you all!

Keep flying on the wings of your dreams with the breath of your words and souls.
